Handmade to order in our Nottinghamshire workshop from solid oak, the Convertable Eco uses less timber than the original Convertable, making it a more material-efficient version of our much-loved classic design.

With its clean, simple tabletop and without the traditional banded detail of the original, the Convertable Eco has a contemporary look that sits comfortably in both modern and traditional homes.

Thoughtful design, made to last

The Convertable Eco is constructed using traditional furniture-making techniques, with every part of the design carefully considered.

By using less timber than the original Convertable, the Eco version makes efficient use of material without compromising on the functionality and durability of the design. The simpler tabletop gives the table a clean, contemporary appearance while retaining the character of solid timber.

The connecting frame is traditionally jointed and the natural grain of the timber is carefully considered during construction. Even the details you might not immediately notice have been designed with purpose. The distinctive triangular feet help keep the table firm and secure across a variety of floor surfaces, while the durable mechanism is designed for years of regular use.

A design with history

The Convertable was originally designed by Lee Sinclair in 1989 and has been made by our family business for more than 35 years. The Convertable Eco builds on that original design, using less timber and a simpler tabletop while retaining the ingenious four-position mechanism that has made the Convertable a much-loved piece of furniture.

Hundreds of Convertables have found homes across the UK and around the world. The design has featured in numerous press articles and even appeared as a game on the BBC's The Generation Game in 1991.
